green day

The Footwear Technology Center of La Rioja, CTCR, attended last week the event LIFE 2017 call for project proposals, that was carried out in Brussels, within the frame of the EU Green Week. During the event, experts from the LIFE programme show the opportunities for project funding under the 2017 call for proposals on close-to-market environmental solutions, biodiversity, and climate change adaptation and mitigation. The main lines for the development of a good project proposal were explained and some successful projects were exposed in the morning session. After that, B2B meetings took place to make new contacts and enable the creation of new projects and research consortia.

The CTCR visited also the 4th Wearable Tech & Internet of Things Conference, that took place at the Instituto de Economía Digital (ICEMD – ESIC), in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid. Some conferences were carried out to show the available technology, the potential and the success stories of the combination of wearables and IoT. Smartglasses are the perfect tool for maintenance tasks, marketing applications, virtual offices and spaces, etc; smart clothes can offer safety at work, including sensors to control the environment were the employees work; medical wearables can collect our health data to create a statistic model and help us to prevent and predict when we are going to suffer an illness or a heart attack, for example. There are also several possibilities to introduce wearables in footwear with different objectives: walking or sport abilities improvement, medical applications, safety applications, etc.
